Pattaya’s Best Hotels – $20-40 a night

Pattaya has some great hotel options in the $20-40 range. This is a list of my personal favourites, I’ve stayed at most of these and would recommend them to anyone.

This guide is designed to help ‘Bangkok 112’ Subscribers when booking hotels in Pattaya. There are no cookies in the links below, so if you do choose a hotel from this list then please consider clicking from the link below and booking straight through. This will be at no extra cost to you, any commission will go straight back into improving Bangkok 112 YouTube videos and maintaining this website. Thank you for your support and I hope that this information will be of use to you.

NB. All the hotels below are ‘guest friendly’ meaning there are no girl joiner fees when you stay alone. Make sure you check 2 in the people staying in the room when booking.

Location is the number one thing I look for when booking Pattaya hotels. It can be a nightmare getting around if you are not close to the central baht bus routes. There are some very nice hotels in Pattaya, competitively priced, but they are in terrible locations for getting around. The last thing you want to do is walk for 10 minutes in scorching heat, or be forced to hire a motorbike or take short mototaxi rides that start at 40 baht.

Cleanliness is also very high on my priorities as I always want zero hassle from creepy crawlies in my room. Facilities (swimming pool / fitness centre) are a bonus but not essential to me as I spend most of my time in Pattaya drinking in the bars, sleeping or recovering from hangovers 🙂

So here is my solid list of the best Pattaya hotels in the $20-40 range. I have recommended these places to many friends over the years who come and stay in the area. Prices are from low to high and are quoted in $ Dollars for clarity.

At a glance:

Galaxy Suites from $25 [Wild Card]

R-Con @ Siam from $25

Opey De Place from $26

Red Planet Pattaya Hotel from $27

April Suites from $27

D Hotel from $28 (my personal favourite in this price range)

August Suites from $32

March Hotel from $32.50

Pattaya Blue Sky from $33

Adelphi Pattaya Hotel from $45

Prices accurate for Spring / summer 2019

Locations of these hotels relative to the 4 main bar areas of Pattaya.

R-Con @ Siam

A 3-star guest friendly hotel with 170 rooms.

Rooms rates start from around $25.

Fast WIFI in the rooms and it has a unique long shaped swimming pool. The location is good on Soi Buakhao, not far from any of the bar areas. There are many inexpensive bars and are restaurants close by. This hotel was fully refurbished in Autumn 2015 so it has a modern feel.

Overall: This is one of my favourite places and locations to stay in Pattaya. It ticks almost all my boxes as the rooms are large, WIFI is fast, and it is quiet and you are not too far away from any of the action.

Tip: Book direct through this agoda link for the best deals. Also, try to book at least a couple of weeks before you stay for the best room prices. (I was quoted 790 baht a night in May 2019 which is great value)

For more info on this hotel view this YouTube Video from when I stayed:

Red Planet Pattaya Hotel (Video of my stay here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 192 rooms.

Room rates start from around $27.

Red Planet Pattaya is a former property of the Tune Hotel group. The rooms are on the small side, but they are clean and functional. Free WIFI in the rooms. The location is good as it’s on Second road.

Overall: A very good place to stay if you are short on cash. The rooms are on the small side so this place won’t be for everyone. It’s only a short walk to the beach and a big shopping mall is opposite, with lots of dining options around. It’s location on second road is great for taking the cheap baht buses around.

When I stayed here I absolutely loved the comfy bed and the rain power shower.

Tip: Book direct through this agoda link to get the best rate (I was quoted 854 baht for a night in May 2019).

Sometimes they drop their prices even lower based on occupancy rates so Red Planet can be a good last minute place to book.

Galaxy Suites [Wild Card hotel – above a gogo bar!]

A 3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 12 rooms.

Room rates start from around $25.

Large 40 sq. m. clean rooms, free WIFI, unlimited tea / coffee in the communal sitting area. The location is pretty much on Walking Street itself. The Heaven Above gogo bar is downstairs 😉

Overall: This is a great place for party animals / people who want to stay as close to the action as possible. A 40 sq. m. room for 750 baht is really good value for money. The more expensive rooms in this hotel have jacuzzis in them too! 🙂

Tip: Rooms are cheaper if you book direct through this booking.com link (I was quoted 795 baht a night in May 2019).

Opey De Place    (Video review here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 72 rooms.

Room rates start from around $26.

Free WIFI in the rooms, Swimming pool, location just off Soi Buakhao means getting around is very easy.

Overall: An older style hotel in an amazing location, very close to the bars and restaurants on Soi Buakhao and LK Metro. The hotel itself is a little bit old and tired, but this was included as many return visitors swear by this place and only ever book here. So it’s a place worth considering at this price point and it always gets fully booked up in the high season.

I’ve tried to book a room here a few times but they were always full so that says a lot.

Tip: Book through this link for the best rates (I was quoted 826 baht for a night in May 2019 which is very good value).

March Hotel (video review here)

3-Star, guest friendly hotel with 104 rooms.

Room rates from around $32.50.

Newish hotel, spacious and clean rooms with big balconies. Facilities are excellent for a 3-star hotel as they have a swimming pool, gym and a sauna. The Premier deluxe rooms have bathtubs. Location is 3 minutes walk to Second Road and Pattaya Central Road.

Overall: I stayed here in September 2017 and had a very pleasant stay. The modern room was great, and I loved chilling out in the afternoon sun on the balcony while getting 60 baht Singha beers delivered through room service. It was refreshing to get a first class aircon unit, great TV, a comfy bed that’s not too hard, great facilities for under $40 a night.

Tip: I was quoted 1027 baht a night booking direct through this agoda link in May 2019, room rates normally vary from around 850 – 1300 baht depending on the season and how far in advance you book.

NB: May hotel opened in early 2018 and is connected with March hotel. Make sure to specify when booking the March hotel you want a front facing sea view room or you might be allocated an obstructed view room at May hotel.

D Hotel (my personal favourite from this list, see the video of my visit here)

A 3-star guest friendly hotel opened in January 2016.

Room rates start from around $28.

A new hotel in a good location on Soi Buakhao. Spacious, clean rooms with balconies, very helpful staff and an amazing rooftop infinity pool. Free WIFI and unlimited Tea / Coffee provided in the lobby along with a kettle in the room.

Overall: This is my personal number one choice from this list. They have only just started accepting online bookings and the hotel is not that well known yet and there are few reviews online. Many inexpensive bars and restaurants are nearby and a 7-Eleven close by. The location is quiet at night yet you are never too far away from the action. No fitness room is the only negative I can think of about this hotel.

This hotel will definitely be popular in the future so reserve a room as far in advance as you can.

Tip: They have only just started agoda bookings so the hotel is hard to locate online. If you book direct through this agoda link you will get the best rate available (I was quoted 878 baht for a night in May 2019).

NB: D Hotel often gets fully booked especially in the high season (Nov – Apr) so reserve your room as far in advance as possible.

D Hotel Rooftop infinity swimming pool.

August Suites (Video of my stay here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 79 rooms.

Room rates start from around $32.

Free WIFI in the rooms, nice swimming pool, fitness centre and sauna. Clean and well maintained rooms. Good location just off second road so it’s easy to catch a baht bus. 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Overall: A very good value for money hotel in a great location. Owned by the same management as April Suites, the rooms are larger here and the facilities are top notch. Many return visitors stay here and the hotel receives regular glowing reviews.

Tip: Book direct through this agoda link for the best insider deal rates (I was quoted 1001 baht a night in May 2019 which is great value)

Pattaya Blue Sky – Video of my stay here

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 63 rooms.

Room rates start from around $33.

Nice, clean 3-star hotel in a good location very close to the beach. Rooftop swimming pool, large fitness centre and great service.

Overall: I stayed here in July 2016 and had a very good stay. The room was fine, and I loved the rooftop pool and it was completely empty when I ventured up. The bathrooms are bigger than normal and the shower was one of the best I’ve ever tried.

When I stayed they let me checkout at 2pm because I was very hungover so bonus points are awarded 🙂

Tip: Book through this agoda link to get the best room rates (I paid 1320 baht for a night in July 2016 and thought it was good value for money).

The further ahead you book in advance the cheaper the room rates are here, I was recently quoted 1038 baht ($33) for a night in May 2019.

Pattaya Blue Sky is a very popular hotel and is often fully booked so reserve your room as far in advance as possible. It was awarded a top choice award for 2016 by Agoda travellers.

My room when I stayed at Pattaya Blue Sky. Nice and clean, 2 minutes walk to the beach. Close to Soi 6 too 😉

April Suites                  (view the video here)

A 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 79 rooms.

Room rates start from around $27.

A nice, clean hotel with modern rooms, good service and great facilities. It has a rooftop pool and bar, gym, and even a sauna. The location is on a quiet cul-de-sac and you are just off second road (with the baht buses) with less than a 5 minute walk to Soi 7 & 8.

Overall: April Suites often comes up when searching for the best value for money hotel in Pattaya, with good reason. I had a very pleasant stay in August 2016 and would definitely recommend it.

I stayed in the larger deluxe room but would probably choose the Superior room if I was staying again.

Tip: Book through this agoda link for the best room deals (the current rates are around 839 baht a night May 2019 which is still good value, you must book a few weeks in advance though and this hotel does get fully booked often). Room rates increase slightly in October for the high tourist season.

My Deluxe room when I stayed in April Suites, the room was very clean and everything was in working order.

Adelphi Pattaya Hotel  (Video of my stay here)

4-star, guest friendly hotel with 76 rooms.

Room rates start from around $45 (inc breakfast).

A great 4-star hotel, spacious clean rooms, with good facilities and glowing online reviews. Nice rooftop pool, probably the cheapest 4-star hotel in Pattaya. Great service when I stayed. It’s a 2 minute stroll to Soi Buakhao and is located directly opposite PP Massage which is a famous soapy massage parlour 😉

Tip: At this hotel they drop their prices according to how busy they are, so it is a great place to book last minute and get a great last minute deal (I was recently quoted 1428 baht a night booking direct through this agoda link in May 2019).

The Adelphi Pattaya Hotel is now an Agoda preferred hotel meaning that service, cleanliness and value for money consistently rank high with agoda reviewers.

Also consider:

Sabai Wing: 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 200 rooms. Room rates from around $35 Dec-March, dropping to $27 Apr onwards.  Very good location on Soi 1 close to the beach and great for the baht buses. 2 nice swimming pools, clean rooms, average facilities and service. I was quoted 1000 baht a night in May 2019 through this agoda link). Video of my stay here.

LK Royal Wing: 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 74 rooms. Room rates from $45. Good quiet location, large rooms, glowing reviews and an all round great value hotel at the price point (I was quoted 1449 baht a night booking direct through this agoda link). Video of my stay here.

Ibis Pattaya: 3-star, guest friendly hotel with 254 rooms. Room rates start from around $37. Clean, functional rooms with WIFI and a nice swimming pool. Quiet at night as it is away from the main bar areas. The Ibis gets fully booked often and it’s easy to see why: It’s a very good solid choice and gets the basics right. The service isn’t amazing, and there is no gym or room service, but those things are not high on everyone’s list of priorities.  ‘If in doubt, just book the Ibis’ is a mantra that I tell my friends when you are totally stuck for a hotel in Thailand (I was quoted 1198 baht for a room in May 2019 booking through this agoda link which is good value)
